What is an Endoscopic Mid-Face Lift?
Filed in archive Facelift , Procedures on March 7, 2010
Best suited to younger people and those with sagging in the cheek area, corners of the mouth, naso-labial folds (marionette lines), and under the eyes, an endoscopic mid-face lift can help achieve a subtle facial rejuvenation with a less invasive technique.
This cosmetic plastic surgery procedure involves making 1" incisions in various locations of the face, often under the lower eyelashes, the naso-labial folds, or above the ear and by the temple or under the hairline. An endoscope, a small, flexible, fiber-optic lens containing tools, can then be inserted to allow the surgeon to view the treatment area on a monitor. Through these small incisions the surgeon can lift and smooth the muscles and tissues. The fat pads under the cheeks can be secured with permanent sutures.
Recovery times are relatively short with a mid-face lift-about a week, or possibly less when the endoscopic method is used. Although complications are not common, as with any surgery there are risks, these being the same as with other face lift surgery.
